UK Black Pride – Europe’s largest celebration for LGBTQ people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Latin American and Middle Eastern descent – didn’t let a little thing like a global pandemic stop celebration of its 15th anniversary on Sunday. Instead, the festivities moved online, with a variety of performances, DJs sets and speakers taking part via live stream – including star of Netflix series Pose, Dominique Jackson, and transgender model and activist Munroe Bergdorf. In addition to a main stage, the digital event also saw dedicated ‘stages’ for wellbeing and young queer people, as well as and a “Desi room” for people from south Asian backgrounds. All of the events were available with British Sign Language interpreting – a standard often not met by many larger and more established Pride events.
