Marielle Franco, Brazilian LGBT and human rights activist, was killed in March 2018. Her widow, Monica Benicio, continued her fight for better treatment of the poor, the LGBT community and black Brazilians. Marielle’s murder has still not been solved and as the police investigation drifts, Monica is plunged into a new crisis – the probable election of Jair Bolsonaro. On the eve of his inauguration, the film documents Monica’s involvement in the campaign opposing Bolsonaro and the aftermath of the election which suggests a terrifying future for LGBT rights and limited hope that Marielle’s murder case will be adequately resolved.
