JusticeMakers Bangladesh, a renowned human rights organization, has expressed grave concern over the murder of Khalek, a transgender woman, on Feb. 19 in Gazipur in central Bangladesh. Khalek, 44, was stabbed by unidentified persons, who left her body in an alley next to Chandana High School in Gazipur. The murder was the latest in a string of human rights abuses of transgender citizens of Bangladesh.
