Hundreds of thousands marched through the streets of Sao Paulo in Brazil on Sunday in the city’s annual gay pride march, with demonstrators protesting the policies of the country’s far-right President Jair Bolsonaro, reported dpa news. British pop singer Mel C, formerly of the Spice Girls, was among the demonstrators, pictures from Brazilian broadcaster Globo TV showed. The parade, traditionally one of the largest in the world, commemorates the Stonewall rebellions of 1969 in New York, which are seen as the beginning of the movement for equality for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) people. Bolsonaro has repeatedly made homophobic comments, once saying that he would sooner lose a son to a car accident than have him be gay.
