National Coming Out day creates space, celebration for LGBTQIA+ students

Since 1988, National Coming Out Day has been celebrated in the United States, honoring the resilience of the LGBTQIA+ community. Today, Oct. 11, is National Coming Out Day. The day is a day of celebration for members of the LGBTQIA+ community as they celebrate their resilience in the face of societal and interpersonal struggles related to identity. On IUP’s campus several organizations that are dedicated to spreading pride and creating safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ students. Pride Alliance serves as the parent organization for all the LGBTQIA+ organizations on campus. Among the affiliated organizations of Pride Alliance are: Cro-Gay: A club that combines crocheting and other fiber arts with LGBTQIA+ identity.
