The United Nations first independent expert on sexual orientation and gender identity, Vitit Muntarbhorn, has resigned, citing health and caretaker issues. "I have been unwell for the past few months and have also been hospitalized. I am now recovering and I wish to reduce my workload generally," Muntarbhorn, a 64-year-old gay man, wrote in the letter. "In addition, ... a key member of my family/household is ill and I am now having to undertake additional family obligations which consume both my time and energy."
