"I am afraid to say what's in my heart," sings Khansa his new music video, "Khayef. Belly-dancing is seen as artistic, exotic, seductive—and the provenance of women. But Lebanese artist Moe Khansa is reclaiming the form in his new music video, “Khayef,” a collaboration with musician Mohamad Zahzah. The song is an adaption of Egyptian singer Mohmad Abdel-Wahab’s 1929 song “Khayf Akoul li fi Qalbi” (“I am afraid to say what’s in my heart”), and speaks to the anxiety faced by young Arabs struggling with their sexuality and gender identity.
