MADRID (ChurchMilitant.com) - Spanish bishops are blasting a law enshrining sexual orientation and gender identity as a protected class, and are being met with threats of prosecution. In a letter published Sunday, the bishops of Getafe and Alcalá in central and northern Spain are decrying last month's passage of an anti-discrimination bill, which the prelates are asserting "denies the sexual [differences of] male-female and unity of the body-spirit person." "[T]his law is in contradiction with the natural moral[s]," reads the letter, signed by Bps. Joaquin Maria Lopez de Andújar and Cánovas del Castillo, José Rico Pavés and Juan Antonio Reig Pla. It is inspired, they maintain, by an "inadequate anthropology."
