Organisation Intersex International Australia (OII) has called for the major parties to provide a commitment to recognition of intersex rights ahead of the Federal election. OII said intersex people are often stigmatised, subjected to involuntary or coerced surgeries and normalising treatments and face human rights abuses. The organization wants a commitment fro the parties that they will put intersex rights on the agenda. OII’s priorities in the campaign to achieve better recognition of issues in the intersex community focus on a number of platforms including health care, education and anti discrimination.
