Gay rights activists gathered in Nepal during Gai Jatra, an annual festival celebrated in Kathmandu, to demand that the country’s government provide non-discrimination protections for LGBT citizens. Nearly 1,500 people came to show their support for the cause, including U.S. Ambassador to Nepal Alaina B Teplitz. Phrases like “Implement our rights guaranteed by the constitution and do not deprive us from our rights," were chante, yelled, and painted on banners.
