Mexico Rallies for and Against Marriage Equality
In May, President Enrique Pena Nieto proposed to legalize same-sex marriage across Mexico. Currently, only some states – Campeche, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Colima, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacan, Morelos, Nayarit, Quintana Roo, Queretaro, and the federal district Mexico City – have legalized same-sex marriage. However, same-sex marriages can be performed anywhere in the country and legally recognized due to a June 2015 ruling by Mexico's Supreme Court.
