Kyrs Yayo and Avion Wilson — one dressed head to toe in Fendi, the other in all white — spent months and hundreds of dollars coordinating their outfits for Saturday’s Juneteenth Unity Festival at Dallas' Longhorn Ballroom. The friends have attended the event since 2015, when Dallas Southern Pride, the official host of celebrations for Dallas’ black LGBTQ community, hosted its first Juneteenth Weekend festivities. "It was so hard for people to actually accept us," Yayo said of being a black gay man. "So trying to be accepted and then fight to be in this world is a hard thing to do."
