The International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association’s Annual Global Convention is set to descend on St. Petersburg this week. One of the world’s leading conventions for LGBTI tourism professionals, the IGLTA chose St. Pete in part because it is home to the largest gay pride event in Florida. The convention has been held in Los Angeles and Madrid in recent years. But last year was the first time any LGBT tourism conference was held on the African continent. In 2016, IGLTA went to Cape Town, South Africa, and hosted 320 travel professionals from 24 countries.
