Two gay men, one Iraqi and one Syrian, will discuss their experiences with anti-LGBTI violence committed by the so-called Islamic State on August 24. Attendance is optional at the informal meeting of the United Nations Security Council. However, it is the first time the council has met to discuss anti-LGBTI persecution.
