In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, the Canada Post has chosen to celebrate marriage equality. On Tuesday the post unveiled the stamp to a local Toronto center that serves the LGBT community. The stamp depicts a maple leaf with the LGBT pride flag overlayed. Underneath the leaf is the year the Civil Marriage Act was passed, giving same-sex couples the right to marry in 2005. The words “Marriage Equality” are under the year in English and French, with the text “CANADA 150” appearing in white on the right side of the maple leaf.
