The well-known La Biela café in the Recoleta neighbourhood faced a furious backlash yesterday after members of staff ejected a gay couple “for being lesbians” from the premises on Monday, reportedly. Belén Arena and her partner were told to leave the famous coffee house in downtown Buenos Aires by staff on the grounds that their behaviour was “inappropriate”, as Arena described in a post that has been shared thousands of times on Facebook. “At 23.30 hours I was having coffee with my partner, she was crying because of a personal situation and I stroked her shoulder and face. A young man in a violent and brazen manner told us to ‘calm down,’” Belén wrote.
